Occupational Drivers License can be requested from the court under many different circumstances. There are some statutory waiting periods that may delay the ability to file immediately, however. These periods were extended by the legislature effective September 1, 2001. The granting of a license is solely up to the discretion of the judge.

If the suspension is for failing or refusing a breath test we can usually get a license to drive for up to 12 hours per day.

If the suspension is for a conviction for DWI or drug cases, the license may be more restrictive.

Some licenses require the installation of an interlock system on your automobile. If the suspension is for too many tickets or for an accident without insurance, the licenses are harder to obtain and more expensive.

Fees for an occupational license vary according to circumstances.

To obtain an occupational license you must have liability insurance and an SR-22 issued by the insurance company.
